Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it was expected for questions to be raised about his future after a further heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in 12 matches, marking the team's poorest streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got significant support from the top,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and earn three points of course but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He added, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to expand on his conversations with the team officials, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “Through standard conversations we have I sense the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them after this game so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Response

Slot highlighted recurring weaknesses from his team in their European loss, specifically missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a spell like this with outcomes this poor.”

He stated, “But we still have the crest on our chest. And until it is removed, we'll continue to fight.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to where it needs to be, show everyone again the values of this club and why it's known as the greatest side in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
