Beloved Star Pat Finn, Recognized For Roles in The Middle and Friends, Passes Away at 60 Years Old.

American performer Finn, who featured in popular programs such as Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has passed away aged 60.

The skilled improv artist died at home in Los Angeles, California on Monday having undergone treatment for cancer since 2022, per media reports.

"Pat saw everyone as a friend - only friends he hadn't encountered," his relatives shared in a message.

They noted that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".

An Extensive Career on Screen

His initial on-screen part was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he portrayed the brother of the main character.

He subsequently landed a recurring role on "Murphy Brown" from 1995 to 1997.

He played the part of the character Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a social organizer famous for delegating tedious tasks to his guests.

Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he had guest spots on a variety of popular shows, like:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House

He was most recognized for playing Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight series over nearly a decade.

His work in movies encompass "It's Complicated" and "Santa Paws 2".

A Life in Improv

Beyond his on-screen roles, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.

He was part of a comedy group of six known as Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils over the years and it's nearly impossible to find a person who has a bad thing to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

Offering condolences, fellow actor Richard Kind said there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Always positive, helping you be funnier and better. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote on social media.

The actor is leaves behind his wife Donna, his children, and his family.
