Ex- Physician Accused of Assault Allegations Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have stated that a ex- doctor stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults involving 38 individuals who were patients.
Details of the Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
One deputy chief CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
The charges follow what police called a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors said the 45 sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
