Officials confirmed that multiple atmospheric balloons were spotted infiltrating Lithuania from the adjacent country of Belarus, with two balloons ending up right above the main terminal.

As many as 14 of the atmospheric instruments deployed throughout the weekend floated over the metropolitan zone, which is the location of Lithuania's primary metropolis and adjacent to the border with Belarus.

Cross-Border Effects

Simultaneously, the north-eastern Podlaskie region, which likewise adjoins Belarus, has documented over 100 cases in which contraband was flown from its border nation utilizing the weather devices.

Criminal Methodology

When questioned about why smugglers utilize a approach that remains especially affected by weather elements rather than more controllable drones, authorities explained that "Atmospheric equipment are rudimentary tools used by illegal traders - they are more economical than drones for moving tobacco products from Belarus."

Law Enforcement Objectives

Authorities continued that "The objective of our agencies is to confiscate the maximum possible quantities of contraband and to arrest masterminds and perpetrators so that this activity become unprofitable and present no risk to civil aviation."
