The Holiday Drink – A Recipe

We present a home-style take on a cocktail featured on our latest cocktail list. This is a party-sized premix which is bursting with tastes of the Christmas time, making it ideal for hosting a holiday party. Reserve the remaining syrup you can use for morning drinks, sweets, or to make another batch of bikinis.

Makes enough for 10 servings

To make the Citrus Syrup (yields 750ml)

300ml newly squeezed clementine juice
200ml newly squeezed lemon juice
500g caster sugar

For the Premix (yields 850ml, serving 10)

400ml decent vodka
100ml dry gin
150ml peach schnapps
200ml clementine cordial (see above)
Whole cranberries, for garnish
Mandarin essential oil, to finish

Instructions

For the Citrus Syrup: Combine the listed ingredients in a pot, heat until it reaches a light boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Then, turn off the stove and leave to cool down entirely. Pour to a sealable bottle, seal keeping it in the refrigerator, where it will keep for about one month.

To make Batch Mix: Mix every spirits and syrup in a big jug, let it rest for an hour, then filter it , ideally through a fine cloth, to ensure it's completely strained.

When ready to serve: Pour 85ml of the cocktail base to a mixing glass packed with ice, and agitate lightly for a minute to chill. Strain into a cold coupe glass or a similar vessel, garnish with a few cranberries and finish by giving it a brief mist of the essential oil above the glass.
